Fly drones in Norway

Here you will find essential information about flying drones in Norway, an overview of where you can fly drones, and what you need to consider before flying drones around Avinor's airports.

The Avidrone Drone App

Avidrone is Avinor's new drone app, replacing the previous Ninox Drone app as of December 8, 2025.

In Avidrone, as a drone pilot, you get a good overview of drone no-fly zones, and you can also apply for permission to fly within the no-fly zone of several airports directly in the drone app. Avidrone also enables you to enter your drone plan so that your flight becomes visible to other drone pilots in the area.

Avidrone is a brand-new drone app from Avinor that is still under development. More features will gradually be rolled out in the drone app to make it easier for you who fly drones.

Avidrone is available online, in the App Store, and on Google Play from November 28, 2025.

Overview of airspace

A challenge many drone pilots experience is keeping track of the restrictions in different airspaces. Avidrone aims to make this more understandable and user-friendly.

Flight permits

Avidrone gives you as a drone pilot the opportunity to apply for permission to fly a drone within the no-fly zone of five kilometers at several airports. This applies to the following airports:

Oslo Airport, Bergen Airport, Trondheim Airport, Stavanger Airport, Bodø Airport, Tromsø Airport, Sandefjord Airport, Kristiansund Airport, Haugesund Airport, Alta Airport, Bardufoss Airport, Harstad/Narvik Airport, Kirkenes Airport, Andøya Airport, Lakselv Airport, Mo i Rana Airport, Ørsta/Volda Airport, Vadsø Airport, Sørkjosen Airport, Sandane Airport, Mosjøen Airport, Båtsfjord Airport.

Overview of airspace

Avidrone will provide users with a better overview of airspace activity by introducing multiple monitoring sources. This is to increase the safety of both drone pilots and other airspace users.

Several flight permits

Avidrone will eventually expand to apply to all Avinor airports. This means that at all of Avinor's 43 airports, you will be able to use Avidrone to apply for permission to fly within the no-fly zone.

Flight permission from other authorities
Avidrone will eventually facilitate other authorities to grant permission for drone flights in the airspace they are responsible for, either manually or automatically within given criteria.
A traffic management system built for the future

With a solid increase in drone activity each year, there will be a greater need to keep track of who is flying where, especially in areas where there is a lot of simultaneous activity. The common European U-space regulations allow for the establishment of specific airspaces where drone operators and service providers must meet specific requirements to operate. Avidrone will facilitate such development in aviation.
