Baggage

Many items cannot be brought in your hand luggage, but must be packed in the checked baggage. Be also aware that certain explosives, flammable and chemical substances are prohibited in checked baggage.
You should therefore read the list below carefully:
Liquids
The main rule is that liquids are not permitted in hand luggage.
Nevertheless, small amounts of liquids are permitted providing:
- the liquids are in containers of up to 100 millilitres each (containers that can hold more than 100 millilitres will be confiscated regardless of how much they contain).
- containers are placed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag with a capacity of no more than 1 litre.
1) What is considered to be a liquid?
All fluids such as water, soft drinks, wine, spreads, gels, creams, deodorants, perfumes, lip gloss, mascara, toothpaste, shaving lotion, aerosols, lighters and objects with similar consistencies. The list is not complete. If in doubt, contact the Civil Aviation Authority.
2) Where can I get hold of a sealable, transparent plastic bag?
The bags are available in most grocery stores. Bags will also be available at the entrance to the security control at most airports.
3) Can I bring my lipstick in my hand baggage?
Yes, cosmetics with a solid composition, such as lipstick, are not defined as liquids and do not need to be placed in the transparent bag.
4) Can I bring baby food in my hand baggage?
Yes, baby food (breast milk, food in jars etc.) are exempt from the rules. You must be prepared to taste the food.
5) Can I bring medicine in my hand baggage?
Yes, medicines that are required during the trip may be brought in hand baggage. You must be prepared to taste or apply the medicine to your skin. A doctor’s certificate must be presented if the medicine cannot be opened in the security control.
6) How do I prevent the duty free bag from being confiscated in the security control?
All goods that are sold beyond the security checkpoint have been checked and can be brought onto the aircraft.
If you are connecting to another flight at your destination airport, you will have to pass another security checkpoint. The bag must be sealed and the receipt must be clearly visible in the bag. The rules state that the trip must be completed within 36 hours after the purchase.
The rules apply within Norway, the EU, EEA ,Switzerland, Singapore, United States. Some airports in Croatia and Canada is also included. If you arrive from other airports then those mentioned, you will not be able to bring your duty free bag through the security control.
NOTE: Alcohol with an alcoholic content of more than 70 by volume is not permitted in hand luggage or checked baggage.
7) Which food types are permitted in hand baggage?
Examples of permitted foods: fruit, whole eggs, coconuts, cake bases, biscuits, meat, cheese.
8) Can I bring a cake?
Dry cakes are permitted. Cakes containing cream are not permitted.
9) What about snuff?
Snuff is permitted in hand baggage. It is not a liquid and it is therefore not necessary to place it in the sealable plastic bag.
10) Can liquids be sent in checked baggage?
Consult the airline you are travelling with. Not all airlines allow bottles in checked baggage.
